Who Should Attend
Personnel new to (or returning to) the offshore oil & gas industry who travel offshore by helicopter and prefer to complete the theory online before attending the practical session.
Learning Outcomes
On completion delegates will be able to: • Identify the hazards of offshore oil & gas installations and the relevant safety regulations and management systems. • Adopt correct brace positions and emergency actions and escape from a capsized, submerged helicopter using the Emergency Breathing System (EBS). • Perform individual and group sea survival techniques, use lifejackets and life rafts, and apply basic first aid. • Use portable fire-fighting equipment and self-rescue from a smoke-filled environment.
Training Methodology
Theory is completed online at the delegate's own pace through OPITO-approved e-learning, followed by a practical session at the academy where helicopter escape, sea survival and fire-fighting skills are practised and assessed under instructor supervision.
