Fire Extinguisher training for Riyadh workplaces

Fire Extinguisher Training in Kochi for Riyadh Offices, Kitchens and Fleets

In Riyadh an extinguisher may hang on a plant-room wall, ride in a delivery van or stand in a food-court kitchen, and in July the average daily high is above 43 degrees. The Labour Law says employers must keep extinguishers working, which raises a plain question about who checks them and who knows which one to pick. This half-day iMost course answers both. The certificate is valid for two years, and the fee is quoted on request.

Choosing and checking the extinguisher is the job

A published summary of the Saudi Labour Law by Clyde & Co says an employer must provide technical means to combat fire, including fire extinguishers and safety exits, and that these must be maintained in working condition at all times. That sentence turns an extinguisher from a wall decoration into something someone has to look at. On a Riyadh site the person who looks is usually a technician, a supervisor or a guard on a round, and what they need is a simple checklist they trust.

Heat is the Riyadh-specific complication. Wikipedia's climate normals for 1991 to 2020 give a mean daily maximum of about 43 to 44 degrees Celsius in July and August. Extinguishers in vehicles, loading yards and rooftop plant rooms live in that heat for months. We do not set limits here, because each manufacturer prints the permitted temperature range on its label, but a person who inspects the unit needs to read the gauge, the label and the condition of the hose, and the course teaches that routine.

The Civil Defense authority has published public advice on extinguishers, reported in July 2026. It calls dry powder particularly effective for a wide range of household fires, and gives the sequence of standing back, removing the pin, aiming at the base of the flames, squeezing the handle and working with the wind rather than against it. That is guidance for homes. A workplace may hold water, foam, carbon dioxide and dry chemical units side by side, and the right choice depends on what is burning. The course teaches the fire classes so that the choice does not rest on a habit.

Two limits are worth saying plainly. The building itself carries a Civil Defense safety licence, applied for electronically through the Salamah platform, and extinguisher servicing belongs to the maintenance contractor, not to your staff. This course does not make anyone a servicing agent or replace either of those. We found no published Saudi rule that names this course, and the Labour Law summary states no extinguisher-training rule, so ask your employer, insurer or landlord whether an iMost certificate meets their wording.

Labour Law extinguisher duty

Employers must provide fire extinguishers and safety exits and keep them in working condition at all times.

Civil Defense guidance, July 2026

Public advice names dry powder as effective for household fires and sets out pull the pin, aim low, squeeze, and use the wind.

Riyadh summer heat

Mean daily maximum of about 43 to 44 degrees Celsius in July and August in the 1991 to 2020 normals.

Emergency number

Civil Defense lists 911 for the Riyadh region and 998 elsewhere in the Kingdom.

Riyadh roles that choose, use or inspect extinguishers

Building technicians and facility coordinators

They walk the floors, plant rooms and car parks, and are expected to spot a missing, discharged or wrongly placed unit.

Fleet supervisors and delivery drivers

A van or truck carries its own extinguisher through the summer heat, and the driver is often the only person nearby.

Restaurant and food-court kitchen supervisors

Cooking oil is its own class of fire, and the wrong extinguisher can spread it rather than stop it.

Warehouse supervisors and forklift-charging staff

Packaging, pallets and charging areas combine several fire classes, so unit type and position matter.

Security guards and night reception staff

They are on site when no one else is, and may carry the building's only basic training.

Camp and accommodation caretakers

Each block has its own units, and someone has to check that they are in place, sealed and readable.

Fire Extinguisher, Basic Fire Fighting, Fire Warden or Fire Watch

Each course answers a different question. Fire Extinguisher training is about the equipment: which type for which fire, how to use it, and how to inspect and record it. Basic Fire Fighting is wider, covering how a fire grows, prevention and emergency procedure as well as extinguisher practice. Fire Warden is about evacuation and headcounts, and Fire Watch is the hot-work role. A Riyadh building usually starts by training every guard, driver and supervisor on extinguishers, then adds wardens or a fire-fighting team for the roles that need more.

Basic Fire Fighting Training →

You lead a team that may have to act on a growing fire, not only a small one.

Fire Warden Training →

You are named in an evacuation plan and must clear a floor and count people at the muster point.

Fire Watch Training →

You stand beside welding or cutting work until the permit is closed.

Five modules, with the inspection checklist at the end

The half day combines classroom teaching, demonstrations and practical drills. Assessment is a written test, a demonstration and oral questioning, and a pass earns an iMost certificate valid for two years. It is not an OPITO course.

  1. 01

    Fundamentals of fire safety

The fire triangle and tetrahedron, and fire classes A, B, C, D and K. Everything else in the day depends on recognising what is burning.

  2. 02

    Types of fire extinguishers

Water, CO2, foam and dry chemical units, matched to the fire classes. In a building with a kitchen, a switch room and a stockroom, the right answer differs for each.

  3. 03

    Proper use of fire extinguishers

The Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep technique with practical demonstrations, and the safe habits that go with it, such as keeping an exit behind you.

  4. 04

    Fire prevention and emergency response

Spotting hazards in your own workplace and following the response routine from the first alarm, including whom to call.

  5. 05

    Inspection and maintenance

A standard checklist for routine inspection, hands-on practice in finding defects, and how to document what you found. It supports your maintenance contractor's work and does not replace it.

For Riyadh facility managers, fleet operators and contractors

The buyers are the people who answer for premises and vehicles: facility managers, fleet and logistics managers, restaurant groups and contractors running camps. A single batch can put guards, drivers and supervisors through one common routine.

Planning around home leave

A half-day course adds little to a leave trip. Put it on the first day, so that a spare day remains before the return flight.

Visa and entry

An Indian passport needs no visa for India. Other nationalities should check the e-Visa category on the official portal, and confirm iqama validity and exit and re-entry permission with the employer.

Costs and payment

The fee is quoted on request and in rupees. Ask our team how to pay from Saudi Arabia before you transfer anything, and keep the receipt.
