Training for Thiruvananthapuram and south Kerala

From the capital to our Kochi campus

Thiruvananthapuram is Kerala's capital, home to a very large IT park and a new deep-water seaport, and a major source of Gulf workers. People here usually ask us for First Aid, Food Safety and HACCP, with T-BOSIET for those heading offshore or abroad. Our campus is at Njarakkal in Kochi, about 215 km north, and a train in the morning puts you in Ernakulam by lunchtime.

Planning a trip north

  1. 1

Decide day trip or stay over

Half-day and one-day courses can be done with a pre-dawn train and an evening return. Three-day OPITO courses need two or three nights near the campus.

  2. 2

    Check dates

Batches run regularly. Write to info@imostacademy.in or WhatsApp +91 8075 787307 with the course and the number of people.

  3. 3

    Book the train early

The Vande Bharat and the Jan Shatabdi are the most convenient morning options. Our team can suggest places to stay near the campus if you plan to arrive the night before.

  4. 4

    Pack for the water sessions

Swimwear, towel, comfortable clothing and valid photo ID. Spectacle wearers should bring a retaining strap, and medication should be declared.

  5. 5

    Plan the Gulf paperwork separately

If you are going abroad, keep the certificate with your visa documents. Your recruiting agency should be one registered with the Protector General of Emigrants.

What drives training demand in the capital

Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram is described as the largest IT park in Asia by area, with roughly 12.7 million square feet built up, about 470 to 490 companies and 70,000 to 75,000 employees. Large office campuses do not run offshore operations, but they do need trained first-aiders, fire wardens and facilities teams, which is why employers here ask for workplace safety courses in batches.

Vizhinjam International Seaport, about 14 km from the city centre, is India's first deep-water transshipment port. Its first container ship docked on a trial run in July 2024, and it was commissioned on 2 May 2025 by the Prime Minister. It is operated by Adani Vizhinjam Port under a 40-year agreement with the Government of Kerala. A new port brings terminal staff and contractors who work around heavy equipment and water, and works for its next phases were inaugurated in January 2026.

The capital is also a big source of Gulf workers. The Kerala Migration Survey of 2007 listed Thiruvananthapuram as the district of origin for 189,000 emigrants and Kollam for 147,000, and in the 2014 survey round about 90 per cent of Kerala's emigrants were in the Middle East. Many of the people in our south Kerala enquiries are preparing for a Gulf rotation or a first offshore job and want the induction certificate before they go.

Hospitality is the third strand. Visitors to Kerala reached 22.25 million in 2024, and the coast from Kovalam to Varkala depends on resorts, restaurants and caterers. Food Safety and HACCP training are the courses searched for most from Thiruvananthapuram after First Aid.
