Tower and mall facilities staff
They know the stairwells and assembly points, and they are the first people residents or shoppers look to when an alarm sounds.
Abu Dhabi's occupational safety framework, ADOSH-SF, has an element on emergency management. In version 4.0, dated 15 July 2024, it says every entity must have a fire management plan aligned with the latest UAE fire and life safety regulations, and an emergency evacuation plan specific to its premises. That evacuation plan must record the duties and identity of staff with specific evacuation responsibilities, the escape routes, how occupants are warned, where they assemble and how they are accounted for. It also asks for arrangements for people with special needs, and for the training that makes the plan work. Plans are to be tested at least once a year.
The document does not use the word warden, and we found no Abu Dhabi rule that sets a warden ratio or a fixed course. This matters for how to read the course. A fire warden certificate is a way to equip the people your plan names, not a licence. The client, the landlord, the insurer or the building's own procedure decides what proof they want, and an iMost certificate is not a government qualification.
Two kinds of Abu Dhabi site feel this most. The first is the dense residential and commercial tower. Wikipedia counts more than 100 completed towers on Al Reem Island by 2021, with a 2024 census population of 59,725, and Reem Mall opened there in May 2024 with about 186,000 square metres of space. A building like that depends on floor-level staff who know the stairs, the assembly point and the headcount routine. The second is employer-supplied accommodation. Code of Practice 18.0 requires owners and operators of such accommodation to comply with Civil Defence regulations and the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, and ties its emergency and fire provisions back to the same emergency management element.
Enforcement also has a licensing side. The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority warned in August 2024 against unlicensed fire safety work and cited a Dh50,000 penalty for operating without approval, under Cabinet Resolution No. 24 of 2012. That concerns suppliers and installers, not wardens, but it shows the authority is active.
Version 4.0 of July 2024: a fire management plan, a premises-specific evacuation plan and annual testing for each entity.
Version 4.0: operators must follow Civil Defence regulations and the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code.

Each floor needs someone who sweeps the area, counts heads at the assembly point and reports to the fire team.
Camps house many people in repeated blocks, so a trained person per block shortens an evacuation and the headcount.
They tie the evacuation plan to permits, muster points and the emergency response team.
Visitors, children and patients cannot be expected to act fast, so staff must do it for them.
The four courses answer different questions. Fire warden is about evacuation and coordination: who raises the alarm, how a floor is cleared, who counts the people. Fire extinguisher is the half-day hands-on course for handling the equipment itself. Basic fire fighting goes wider into suppression skills for people who may tackle a fire. Fire watch is narrower still, a role for hot work permits. If your plan names wardens and also expects them to use extinguishers, the warden day already includes practical extinguisher use, so many employers start there and add the extinguisher course for general staff later.
You want a wide group of staff to handle portable extinguishers, not coordinate an evacuation.
Your people may be expected to attack a fire, for example in a plant or on a vessel.
The task is standing watch during welding or cutting under a hot work permit.
The course is interactive classroom teaching with demonstrations, case studies and scenario work. Assessment combines a written test, a demonstration and oral questioning, and successful delegates receive an iMost Academy certificate valid for two years. It is not an OPITO course.
What the plan expects of you, who you report to and where your authority ends. This is the module that turns a name on a list into a person who knows the duty.
How fire starts and spreads, and the classes of fire. In a camp kitchen block or a tower plant room, the class decides what is safe to use.
Spotting blocked exits, overloaded sockets and stored combustibles on a walk-round, the checks a warden does before anything happens.
Alarms, extinguishers, hose reels and signage, and what a warden checks on a routine round.
Raising the alarm, sweeping an area, assembly and accounting for people. It maps onto the elements the ADOSH-SF evacuation plan lists.
Hands-on extinguisher work and drill practice, so the first time you do it is not the first time it matters.
An overview of fire safety law and codes. Ask our team how the module treats UAE rules, because your site must still follow the Civil Defence and ADOSH-SF texts that apply.
Warden cover is usually bought by the building or site: a facility manager, camp operator or contractor HSE lead who must show who is trained for which floor or block. Turnover and shifts mean the list needs refreshing every couple of years.
| Course | Requirement note |
|---|---|
| Fire Warden Training | Often chosen for the named staff in an evacuation plan. Confirm with your building owner or client that an iMost certificate meets their requirement. |
| Fire Extinguisher Training | A useful add-on for the wider workforce who may handle extinguishers but do not coordinate evacuations. |
| Basic Fire Fighting Training | For sites whose plan expects staff to attack a developing fire as well as evacuate. |
Operators and clients set their own requirements; confirm with your contract or HSE department.
Direct flights connect Zayed International (AUH) and Cochin International (COK) in about four hours. The campus is around 40 km from the airport on Vypin island.
Route listings include Etihad, Air Arabia, Air India Express and IndiGo. Timetables move with the season, so check just before buying.
A taxi or app cab crosses the Goshree bridges to Puthuval Road, Njarakkal. Ask your driver to confirm the traffic situation.
A one-day course adds little to a trip to Kerala. If you are already taking leave, put the training day at the start so it does not clash with return flights. For an employer sending several people, two nights away is enough.
Indian passport holders may enter India without a visa. People travelling on another passport should look at the e-Visa categories on the official portal before booking.
Fees are quoted in rupees for each delegate. Ask our team how to pay from the UAE before you send money, and keep the receipt for your accounts.
Pull the names from the evacuation plan by floor, block or area, and check whether the client wants a specific certificate.
Ask for dates through info@imostacademy.in or +91 8075 787307. Batches run regularly, so ask our team for the current schedule.
Land in Kochi the evening before the course and rest. Carry a valid photo ID.
Theory and demonstrations lead into extinguisher practice and drills. Wear clothes suited to practical work and declare any medical condition to the instructor.
Add the new certificate dates to your warden list and schedule the next drill.
