Shift supervisors in chemical units at Nandesari and nearby estates
They are the nearest trained adult when a splash, a fume exposure or a fall happens, and the plant's own medical team may be across the site.
Vadodara's industrial land is split by purpose. GIDC's list of notified areas gives Nandesari about 230 hectares, notified in 1975, and a press investigation has described it as an estate of some 267 units mainly making industrial chemicals. GIDC's own board classes the larger Makarpura estate, 348 hectares and set up in the mid-1960s, among its non-chemical estates, the home of the engineering, fabrication and machine-shop base. The injuries differ with the process: acid or solvent in the eye and on skin in one, cuts, crush, burns and flying chips in the other.
Gujarat's rules show how seriously the first minutes are taken. The schedule attached to Rule 68-U of the Gujarat Factories Rules lists the equipment of an occupational health centre in a factory, and it includes a thousand-millilitre wash bottle for the eyes, an oxygen cylinder, splints scaled to the size of the workforce and a stomach wash set. A centre like that supports a worker after the first response; it does not replace the colleague who must start the eye wash, stop the bleeding or begin CPR before anyone in a white coat arrives.
A fair limit on this page: our course is general first aid. Its outline takes in wounds, burns, fractures, collapse, heat illness and poisoning, but it does not teach decontamination for a particular chemical. That comes from your own safety data sheets and site emergency plan. Where a person has to be named as a factory's trained first-aider, the Factories Act leaves recognition to the state, so ask the Gujarat Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health which provider qualifies. We do not claim that our certificate does.
The second Vadodara need is the crowd. The city's Navratri garba grounds draw very large numbers every autumn, and the Gujarat health department reportedly told organisers in 2023 to station an ambulance, a medical team, defibrillators and CPR-trained people at each venue. For 2026, reports describe Vadodara venues adding first-aid stations and medical assistance teams. Stewards, volunteers, security and ground staff are not clinicians, but they are standing where a person collapses, so a half day of CPR, AED and recovery-position practice is a sensible use of their time.
About 230 hectares notified in 1975, mainly an industrial chemicals estate according to a press investigation that counted about 267 units.

Large crowds each autumn; the state health department reportedly set medical-team and defibrillator expectations for organisers in 2023.

Cuts, crush injuries and eye injuries are everyday risks in small teams with no nurse on the shift.
They deal with drivers and visitors as well as employees, and are on site when production crews are elsewhere.
They work outside the factory's own first-aid circle and may not know who is named on the notice.
A garba ground or a stadium is a crowd of thousands with a handful of trained responders.
Choose first aid when the question is what to do for the person: bleeding, burns, breathing, collapse. Choose hazardous materials training when the question is what the substance is and how to contain it, and lockout-tagout when the problem is energy that should have been isolated before someone put a hand in a machine. Fire fighting suits teams with extinguishers and hose reels to use. In a chemical estate the safest order is often hazmat first, so the person responding knows what is on the label, then first aid, so they can help the casualty without becoming a second one.
You need to read labels and safety data sheets, and contain a spill, before any casualty care.
Your injuries come from machines starting during maintenance.
Your response team needs extinguisher and fire-ground skills.
The half day mixes classroom sessions, demonstrations, case studies and hands-on scenarios. Delegates sit a written test, demonstrate practical skills and face oral questioning; an iMost certificate follows on success.
Aims, importance and legal considerations. Bring your factory's first-aid notice so the group can compare it with what the course teaches.
Chest compressions, defibrillator use and positioning for the collapsed colleague on a shop floor or the person who falls on a crowded ground.
Cuts from sheet metal, hot-surface burns, crush injuries and falls from platforms are the daily cases in engineering units.
Choking, heart attack, stroke and seizures: the conditions that can happen to any person in any plant or crowd.
Heat-related illness and poisoning are listed in the outline and matter in Gujarat summers and on hot process floors. Chemical-specific exposure response follows your own data sheets.
Children, elderly people and mental health crises, relevant to event crowds and to colleagues in distress after a shift incident.
Role-play and simulations let teams rehearse the first five minutes, and agree who calls, who treats and who meets the ambulance.
Employers include chemical and pharmaceutical units, engineering and fabrication firms, contract maintenance companies and the organisers of large public events. Their needs differ, but the starting point is the same: know who is named, who is on shift and who is missing.
| Course | Requirement note |
|---|---|
| Basic First Aid Training | Often asked for supervisors and back-up responders; the client or inspector decides whether it satisfies a named first-aider requirement. |
| Hazardous Materials HAZMAT Training | Commonly paired in chemical estates so that responders know what a spill or label means. |
| Lockout-Tagout LOTO Training | A common pairing for maintenance teams in engineering units. |
Operators and clients set their own requirements; confirm with your contract or HSE department.
No nonstop flight from Vadodara to Kochi turned up on the lists we checked, so plan around a connection or around Ahmedabad. Our campus at Njarakkal is a taxi ride from Cochin International Airport.
Vadodara airport lists flights to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, and Kochi lists flights from several of them. A connection usually makes a trip of 2 to 4 hours of flying plus the wait. Compare fares for the whole group before booking.
Ahmedabad airport is about 112 km from Vadodara by road and Cochin lists an Ahmedabad flight on IndiGo, so a group with a vehicle may prefer this. Schedules change; check the airline.
Trains such as the Okha to Ernakulam Express stop at Vadodara but take more than a day each way, so only a team with leave in hand would choose them for a half-day course.
List who is trained on each shift and at each gate. The gaps tell you how many people to send.
If you also need hazmat or lockout-tagout, ask our team whether the batch dates can sit in the same visit, since all three are short courses.
Send the headcount and your preferred month to our team on +91 8075 787307 (WhatsApp) or to info@imostacademy.in.
Keep the group on the same flights so nobody arrives late. Land the evening before the session.
Update your first-aid notice, show the shift teams where the kits are and agree who calls the ambulance. Note the date for repeating the session.
