Offshore production and maintenance technicians
A Gulf platform is reached by boat or air, so anyone assigned to one is normally put through survival training first.
Dubai's own offshore oil is modest and entirely shore-supplied. Dubai Petroleum lists five fields, Fateh, South-West Fateh, Falah, Rashid and Jalilah, about 60 miles out in the Gulf, served from its supply base at Jebel Ali. For a platform technician, boat hand or logistics coordinator in that chain, the first step is asking your employer which induction paperwork the client expects.
The wider reason is mobility. Dubai is a base for ship repair, marine services, free-zone engineering firms and crewing offices, so people employed here are moved between clients. Dubai Maritime City, which DP World says held a record 52 vessels in its dry berths on 28 July 2026, repairs offshore vessels up to 150 metres. The fitters, surveyors and deck crew on those vessels can be reassigned to another sea within a year.
BOSIET with EBS also follows people out of the Gulf. Clients in colder waters such as the North Sea commonly name the standard version, because the tropical course is written for warm-water operations. If your next posting might be one of those, booking the standard course now can save a second three-day course later.
Five fields roughly 60 miles offshore, with Jebel Ali named by the company as the supply base.
Offshore vessels up to 150 metres drove much of the recent growth in dry-berth use, according to DP World.
Staff employed in Dubai are often deployed to clients elsewhere, so the client's course code matters more than your home address.

Vessels serving offshore fields work alongside installations, and many clients ask for current sea survival and fire-fighting certificates from the whole crew.
Dubai yard staff are sometimes sent offshore for short shutdown or hook-up jobs, and three days is cheaper than losing a place on the crew list.
No offshore experience is needed, only medical fitness for the practical exercises, so shore workers can use it to move offshore.
Both courses run three days at ₹35,000, so price does not decide it. The tropical T-BOSIET (OPITO 5501) suits warm-water regions when your contract names it. The standard BOSIET with EBS (5700) is what many international operators and helicopter providers ask for, particularly outside the tropics. Dubai workers who rotate between clients often take the standard course so one certificate covers more cases. The client contract has the final word, so ask for the code in writing.
Choose it when the client names OPITO 5501 and your work stays in warm-water regions.
Ask about it if your off-rotation window is short; the theory is done online and our team will describe the practical days.
The refresher route for someone whose standard BOSIET is close to the end of its 4 years.
Add Basic H2S (OPITO 9014, half a day, ₹12,500, valid 2 years) if the assignment involves gas that may contain hydrogen sulphide.
OPITO-approved instructors assess you continuously against the OPITO standard, and you must show competence in every exercise.
Risk management, safety laws, hazards and incident reporting. It prepares you for the vocabulary of a client's own installation induction.
You use handheld extinguishers, then get out of a smoke-filled room on a fire ground. Engine rooms and process modules are hot, enclosed places.
Lifejackets, boarding survival craft and individual and group water survival techniques, whatever the water temperature at your own field.
Helicopter ditching drills, controlled descent and the Emergency Breathing System. This is the module to ask your employer about if your rotation uses air transfer.
Simulated emergencies in aviation suits, lifejackets and EBS in an indoor pool with a Modular Egress Training Simulator. Spectacle wearers should bring a retaining strap.
Buyers here are marine and offshore service contractors, free-zone engineering firms, vessel operators and crewing agencies. A Dubai coordinator often books for people whose end client is in another emirate or country, so the certificate version should follow the client's HSE plan, not the office location.
| Course | Requirement note |
|---|---|
| Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training with EBS (BOSIET with EBS) | Often named by international operators and helicopter providers, and a sensible default when the next client is unknown. The contract decides. |
| Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (T-BOSIET) | Suited to warm-water work where the client has confirmed 5501. Confirm before moving a whole crew onto it. |
| Further Offshore Emergency Training with EBS (FOET with EBS) | Refresher for staff holding a standard BOSIET; track expiry dates so renewals avoid mobilisation months. |
Operators and clients set their own requirements; confirm with your contract or HSE department.
Flights leave Dubai (DXB) for Cochin International Airport (COK) nonstop, and Sharjah (SHJ) is the alternative if you live in the northern emirates. Our campus lies on Vypin island, a road transfer of about 40 km from COK.
Several airlines are listed on this nonstop route and the schedule changes by season. India runs 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of the UAE, so allow for that when planning your landing.
From the airport, a prepaid taxi or app cab takes the Goshree bridges onto Vypin island. Allow extra time at rush hour.
Treat the trip as five or six days: one to arrive, three for the course, one or two to return. If your family is in Kerala, putting the course at the start or end of a visit avoids an extra round trip.
An Indian passport needs no visa for this trip. A foreign passport usually calls for an Indian e-Visa or regular visa, and the category depends on nationality, so settle that before buying a flight.
We price in Indian rupees, per person. Most Dubai residents pay by transfer from a UAE bank account; check the amount, payment reference and your bank's charges first.
Ask HR or the client's compliance team for the exact certificate name and OPITO number, and save the email.
Three days of training plus a travel day each way and a spare for a delayed flight makes five or six days away.
Batches run regularly. Share your off-rotation window with our team and book flights only after a batch is confirmed.
Send the certificate to your employer, note the expiry four years ahead and book the refresher at least three months early.
